B1A4, Shogo Yagani & Yuka Chocomoo are all involded in a Fake Tokyo.

Today I found out about Yuka Chocomoo in the weirdest way possible. CNU and Baro took some photos here and here at this event called “Candy Pop-Up Shop Opening Party” seems it is a pop-up show (which are infact like on trend nowadays). I found information on all the parts and people on the photos so I’m going to talk about them in order. Did some research. Yey internet.

Anyways Candy (the pop-up shop) is a Japanese shop that along with Sister another Japanese shop are part of FakeTokyo.com another… shop/brand. FakeTokyo is runned by a guy named Shogo Yagani (Yaga). Yaga is from Shibuya, Tokyo. This is Mr. Shogo Yagani.

meet Shogo Yagani (Yaga)
Back to the story… Shogo Yagani is doing this pop-up shop in Korea to promote his shop Candy. I am sure that via his shops Candy & Sister he has provided clothing and accesories to many… many coordi-noonas and therefore Korean idols. So he is part of what is hot and trendy right now in Asia. If an idol haves it every one wants it. But they are fun and unique items so it is all good in the fashion industry. Thats why B1A4 was at the event. Even BoA said hi at their pop-up in Gangnam with her crew to support them. They are part of this trendy fashion that is moving along Asia that is actually born in Japan. You can read about FakeTokyo here(Shogo Yagani photo was taken from here also check candy’s twitter & instagram)
Now lets bring in Yuka Chocomoo to the equation. She took photos with the boys at the event… but what was her roll there? Entertainment… artistic entertainment. Chocomoo is a Japanese illustrator whom is currently exposing her work in Manhattan, NY. I went through her instagram account after following her and she even haves a photo with artist/photographer JR (he is french). JR works are awesome, unique and enormous. You can check that via his instagram (where I found about him worth the following). So with that said she is getting quite popular not only in Japan but overseas.

After looking to some of her illustrations it was more than clear to my why the boys had to be there besides all the promotion and support to the brand. Her illustration style is just the same of their latest album and comeback concept. They where influenced by her art along with Shogo Yagani fashion sense. B1A4 spent a lot of time in Japan last year and since they debuted they have been wearing top young and unique brands from Japan.
Her illustrations are black and white (haven’t seen anything in color from all the photos I saw on her blog. She uses free hand illustrations nothing is done by mold just at the moment and fill the white space with a lot of detail. Which is something that I love doing. You can see a little of Basquiat there. Also bold lines nothing straight all turned and round with text all over sending a hidden messages along the illustration. After seen her works I kind of fell in love with it and I’m looking forward to see more of her works.
She was featured a few days ago in the website/magazine called the Quiet Lunch and they made an article  about her exposition at New York here. If you want to know more about here you can visit her blog which is full of her amazing artworks, clothing, collaborations with other artists and her works with different magazines. To stay updated on her right here right now issues and movements go to her twitter or instagram.
Hope you nejoyed this post and the photos. (photos taken from QuietLunch and Sweetstreetla)

A Piece of Phantasmagoria

After looking all around the internet for this anime last night I finally found a good video with all the 15 episodes in Japanese with English subtitles.
A Piece of Phantasmagoria is a 15 episodes series of 5min each. It tells the story of the towns and citizens that make Phantasmagoria a wonderful place. This anime was created by  Tamura Shigeru. It was released in 1995 but it is based on the illustration book published in 1989 by Kakuusha.

Below is the full anime and you can download it from there if you are interested in having this masterpiece on your collection. Enjoy!

Rurouni Kenshin.

Earlier today I finally got to see Rurouni Kenshin live action movie. I’ve been waiting for this movie to be done for more than 10 years. I was pretty excited when some years ago I read somewhere that it would be done into a live action. Of course I was worried cause I wasn’t sure how that would turn out. If the story would change if the actors won’t do the characters well and so on.
I have to say that I am more than pleased with the movie. It did stayed loyal to the characters and the story of the whole anime. I never read the manga cause it is way to long but I also never finished the anime ’cause it was around 95 episodes and back in the day (circa 1996) they repeated them a lot on tv so I kind of lost track of it. Anyways… I did saw the OVAs and a movie but again it was so long ago that I barely remember the main plot of those just random detail. No worries… I am already downloading the whole thing again so I can watch it again.
If you are wondering what I am talking about I will share some info and links with you so you get an idea of what everything is about. Rurouni Kenshin is about Himura Kenshin formerly known as the Hitokiri Battosai becomes a wanderer to protect the people from Japan. The story takes place during the early Meiji Period in Japan.
Rurouni Kenshin Manga: 28 Volumes (255 acts/chapters)
Rurouni Kenshin: Anime Series 95 Episodes
Rurouni Kenshin OVA (Original Video Animation): Trust &Betrayal (1999) / Reflection (2001)
Rurouni Kenshin LIVE action movie
A little side note…
It means a lot to me. While I was watching it with my dad he was asking me who the character where… even my sister did. It felt good, really good that they still remember the names and people on it after all this years. My dad used to watch it with me sometimes and I fed up everyone in my house with it. Yes, Rurouni Kenshin was my first anime. I fell in love with it. This was the series that made me fall in love with Japan and the Meiji Era. It made me a happy otaku back then. I was on my first year of college and I remember that I woke up at 8:00AM just to watch this before leaving to college. If I couldn’t see it I would leave the VCR recording it and watch it later. Ouh Yes I did. I remember that I got so much into the Meiji Period that I spent a lot of time on the college library reading, copying and taking home books related to this era. Good times. Good times. I bought all the toy characters and have them very well kept on their original packaging. Thank You.

Oyasumi Goodnight & [1]

B1A4 spent the whole summer on their debut in Japan. They came out with 2 singles (Beautiful Target and Oyasumi Goodnight) and 1 full album which is titled [1]. This update is about Oyasumi Goodnight and [1]. Each of the albums (singles and full albums) had 3 versions. Beautiful Target Version 3 is sold out and I wont be able to buy it since there are no more copies available… same thing happen with the full album [1] Version B there is NONE available either. Total sold out.
Since I knew I couldn’t afford all the 9 copies of the summer release I just got all the regular versions of them. that way I wouldn’t feel way behind on having my full collection. You might be asking why have all the 9 albums… well every version is different. Some had new songs, dvds and goodies that the regular versions didn’t had. That’s why as a fan you want to have all of them.
Here are the photos of my albums. Yey! I was so happy when I opened them. Also today their 3rd Korean Mini Album “In the wind” comes out and I already pre-order it. It should be home for my birthday. It comes with the album, poster, photo card and the 82pages photo book. I’ve only seen the cover but I am really excited cause it looks EPIC. The guys from Rainbow Bus does awesome art work for them so I’m always looking forward to what they come up with.

Vexille

Vexille [2007] is an animation movie that deasl with sci-fi all the way from Japan. Directed by Fumihiko Sori. Written by: Haruka Handa and Fumihiko Sori. They are the creators of Appleseed [for what I read on other pages.]

Vexille synopsis is divided in two parts: Isolation: Japan in 2067 closes to herself for the world in the face of unilateral international policy setting strict limits on the use of robotic technology. The island nation exist only behind a veil os seclusion. No one gets in no one goes out of it. Revelation: Then in 2077 ten years after a group of agents from the SWORD company that operates on their own but with the blessings of US and its ally. Their mission is to infiltrate Japan and confirm if they are developing banned robotic bio-techonology forbidden due to its threat with human kind.

I watched this movie yesterday with my dad in our house. I have to say that the graphics are pretty good. It haves a lot of action a little bit of romance but LOTS of actions and science reference. It is more of the same stories of someone trying to rule over everything so you wont be surprise of the story. Still it is develope very well. I loved the jags, suites and the characters overall. Check the video it haves a 10min preview of the movie.
