History Channel

Bueno estos pasados dias me paso viendo meramente el History Channel. La verdad es que hay mucha basura en la television asi que hay que ver los canales despues de HBO y Cinemax en las cajas de DirecTv. Mientras escuchaba los programas del dia de hoy me puse a dibujar lo que esta aqui. I am so proud. Me gusto mucho como quedo y aun no puedo creer que no haya usado negro para nada.

¿Que he aprendido viendo este magnifico canal?

En resumen muchas cosas. [wow]

• Bueno aprendi que en Colombia en la fecha del 9 de abril de 1948 se dio algo llamado El Bogotazo. Porque se dio porque mataron a el caudillo del pueblo Don Jorge Eliécer Gaitán y se formo una revolucion en todo Colombia debido a su muerte. El pais entero se tiro a la calle, fue el mismo pueblo quien mato a su asecino Juan Roa Sierra. Como siempre estas cosas quedan sin resolver o bueno buscan a alguien que corra con la cuenta. En esta revolucion muerieron mas de 5,000 personas en los dias del evento. la historia es mas larga muy buena he importante ya que se dieron varios acontecimientos que afectaron a latinoamerica en general. Incluso Fidel Castro estuvo en la revolucion cuando aun solo era un estudiante y seguidor de El Dr. Gaitan. El dia en que murio Gaitan este se iba a reunir mas tarde con el joven Castro. Esta reunion era para aclarar unos puntos en su asistencia y participacion en un evento que Castro organizaba. En estos dias se conmemoran los 60 anhos de evento. Razon por la cual estaban pasando el documental.

• Aprendi que Simon Bolivar gobernaba La gran Colombia esta comprendia lo que se conoce hoy como Colombia, Ecuador y Venezuela. Que su esposa murio a los 8 meses de ellos haberse casado. Luego tuvo muchas amantes siendo la mas conocida Manuelita Saenz “La libertadora del libertador” quien abandono/dejo a su esposo para quedarse con Simon, fue ella tambien quien se enfrento ante unos hombres que fueron a matar a Simon. Gracias a su consejo Simon pudo huir por una de las ventanas y se salvo de ese ataque.

• Sobre Simon tambien que su espada/sable fue robada de la Quinta de Bolivar en 1974 por un grupo llamado M-19 tratando de con esto hacer un llamado a la lucha libertadora que una vez proclamo su duenho. La espada/sable fue devuelto en 1990 y se dice que todo el tiempo en que esta estubo “extraviada” viajo por Cuba y que estubo en casas de poetas, burdeles y tantos lugares no tradicionales qu ele dieron auspicio a la espada. Esto la hizo conventirse en un icono de la nacion. Aunque la entregaron todavia hay gente que creen que lo que entregaron fue una replica y que el grupo aun ya no existente aun conserva la original. Lean toda estas historias son muy buenas.

• Otra cosa que aprendi fue como la creacion de la cerveza a evolucionado desde los egipcios hasta que llego a mano de los estado unidenses. Que lager es una palabra alemana y que se usa desde siempre. La primer ley de sanidad en Bavaria fue para contorlar los ingredientes en la cerveza [hops, malt y agua]. Los monjes de monasterios fueron los que inventaron las maquinarias y procedimientos basicos para refinar la cerveza y que aun muchos de esos aunque mejorados son los mismos que se usan actualmente. Muchos de los padres fundadores de los Estados Unidos tenian cervecerias porque era comoq ue lo mas normal entre ellos el presidente Washington. Los hops son un ingrediente escencial en la produccion. Samuel Adams tiene una cerveza llamada utopias que es caso whiskey no tiene tanta espuma es costosa y la sacan por series lo que significa que son especial editions asi que son limitadas. Actualmente en EU esta creciendo los cervecerias caseras.

• Las momias aunque no puedas sacarla de el ataud puedes saber como muerieron y quien eran. Vi como resolvieron el caso de una momia sin tocarla. Le hicieron MRI, muchos estudios a el ataud con rayos x y otros instrumentos. Descubrieron que la mujer era de alta sociedad,que el nombre que se le tenia estaba erroneo y la querian bien muerta. Supuestamente ella fue apunhalada por el abdomen de abajo hacia arriba lo cual danho muchos de sus organos vitales y esto fue lo que le causo la muerte. Que pudo haber sido alguien del clerigo porque la persona sabia escribir porque los jeroglificos estaban mal puestos con toda la intencion de que la persona no llegara al mas alla. WOW super cool. Muchos avances tecnologicos.

• El dictador panamenho Manuel A. Noguera apesar de todos los crimenes que cometio contra el pueblo de Panama este fue arrestado por lavado de dinero y contrabando de drogas hacia los EU. Estados Unidos invadio la capital de Panama en 1989 y arresto al presidente matando supuestamente aproximadamente 1,000 civiles en la invacion para arrestarlo. Actualmente esta cumpliendo condena en una carcel federal en Miami, Florida. Muchas cosas interesantes en este tema CIA, federales, gobierno, Reagan ,etc. No hay info de el en wikipedia ni en muchos lugares, sera porque esta preso???

• La pizza es una cosa seria. La historia es bien interesante. Por mas que digan la mejor pizza la hacen en New York no en Chicago. haha. A principio solo se vendian las pizzas enteras. Los soldados americanos se establecieron en el area de Italia en la segunda guerra fueron los que hicieron famosas a las pizzas cuando regreseraon a EU. Pizzeria Uno al principio fue un fracaso hasta que un reportero escribio sobre ellas en una columna y despues de eso fue historia. Tuvieron que abrir otro restaurante llamado Pizzeria Dues [quedaba al cruzar la calle]. Dominos pizza fue el primero que hizo delivery y puso a correr lo de esperar 30 min o la pizza era gratis. Pizza Hut fue el primero que hizo un cadena de tiendas alrededor de EU. Todas las pizzas de Domino’s pizza saben iguales porque esto es mandatorio en el reglamento y la compania misma provee la masa y los materiales para tener control de este punto. Los bags que mantienen la pizza caliente los creo una mujer.

I always liked the song Do you realize from The Flaming Lips. I used the lyric on this one. This is the best part of the song for me cause it is so true. We sometimes don’t realize this things even when they are so obvious we get attached to the eternity ideal which isnt bad but we still should understand the reality of things we all are going to die some times and well the sun never goes down.

More Practicing

Practica hace perfeccion.

Como comente los otros dias por fin me compre la moleskine. Comence a llenarla con dibujos. La idea es dibujar cosas variadas que llamen mi atencion [just because] y tratar de ilustrarlas. En si es un ejercicio de practica para desarrollar las destrezas y ver hasta donde uno puede llegar desde pensar algo hasta dibujarlo.

Hasta ahora todo va de maravilla. Comence con la orange por un anuncion de jugo de china despues willy wonka y asi en adelante. Solo imagenes o situaciones que me digan make me. [haha]. Algunas seran situaciones personales otras no todo depende lo que pase.Estoy contenta por los resultados.

Como dicen la practica hace la perfeccion. Pero no quiero ser perfecta solo practica.

PEEL: The Art of the Sticker

I just saw this book PEEL: The Art of the Sticker on via the feed that I from juxtapoz magazine. It is about sticker art. The book just came out this month as the information says. So I hope that I can buy it online soon. [If you feel generous enough you can go to my wishlist and send it to me haha just kidding.] Don’t think Borders will have it soon enough. Polaroid’s Suicide

“Polaroid Corp. is dropping the technology it pioneered long before digital photography rendered instant film obsolete to all but a few nostalgia buffs.”

Polaroid is closing factories in Massachusetts, Mexico and the Netherlands and cutting 450 jobs as the brand synonymous with instant images focuses on ventures such as a portable printer for images from cell phones and Polaroid-branded digital cameras, televisions and DVD players.

The company stopped making instant cameras over the past two years.

“We’re trying to reinvent Polaroid so it lives on for the next 30 to 40 years,” Tom Beaudoin, Polaroid’s president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer, said in a phone interview Friday, after the company’s plans were reported in The Boston Globe.

Polaroid failed to embrace the digital technology that has transformed photography, instead sticking to its belief that many photographers who didn’t want to wait to get pictures developed would hold onto their old Polaroid cameras.

Global sales of traditional camera film have been dropping about 25 percent to 30 percent per year, “and I’ve got to believe instant film has been falling as fast if not faster,” said Ed Lee, a digital photography analyst at the research firm InfoTrends Inc.

“At some point in time, it had to reach the point where it was going to be uneconomical to keep producing instant film,” Lee said.

Privately held Polaroid doesn’t disclose financial details about its instant film business.

Polaroid instant film will be available in stores through next year, the company said _ after which, Lee said, Japan’s Fujifilm will be the only major maker of instant film.

Polaroid got its start making polarized sunglasses in the 1930s, and introduced its first instant camera in 1948. Film packs contained the chemicals for developing images inside the camera, and photos emerged from the camera in less than a minute.

Polaroid’s overall revenue from instant cameras, film and other products peaked in 1991 at nearly $3 billion. The company went into bankruptcy in 2001 and was bought four years later for $426 million by Minnetonka, Minn.-based consumer products company Petters Group Worldwide.

Meanwhile, Polaroid is seeking a partner to acquire licensing rights for its instant film, in hopes that another firm will continue making the film to supply Polaroid enthusiasts.

I can’t believe this. I knew they will come to an end but not so fast. Come on we all love that old looks on the photos. The excitement of waiting the burden when it came they way it wasnt expected, the funky hues the film made. I just fell in love with the idea of having one after seen lots of polaroids photos of some websites. I still want one so i will have to hurry up before people buy them just to have one. Some people might do that. At least we will be able to buy the films anyways. But no more cameras that is sad. I wonder what the fashion industry will say and do since many used them for many things. Also on XMas and Three Kings Day season… the kids wont be able to get the photos with them to keep as a memory that is sad, breaking a childs dream of having a pic with Santa, Gaspar, Melchor and Baltazar. Lets see what happens and I do hope somebody buys the lisence from them. Polaroid will always be part of us. Ohh the good old things are fading away and some could care less. Damn you digital world… 😦
